I am a sucker for forest animals on clothes, and ever since Alexa Chung popped up in this rad fox jumpsuit, I have had a little bit of a fox fever!
Although I am not entirely fox-less:
A pair of tres mignon fox earrings from claire's! I can't believe it either. I was walking by their window on the way to work, I saw these beauties, and rushed out 2 minutes later with these in my purse. Bought, of course. Not shoplifted. The last time I shoplifted was when I was 4, and it was a little teacup sharpener, and I wasn't very sly about it and got caught later on at home. The shame was enough to carry me through, 16 years later, without another shoplifting incident.
I also have a fox ring from H&M that came in a set of woodland creature rings (forgive the lousy pic quality):
And in keeping with the fox theme, here's one of my favorite songs from one of my favorite bands, Fleet Foxes (who I am going to see in May, by the way!):

banging it out
I just recently saw Never Let Me Go with Cary Mulligan, Keira Knightley and Andrew Garfield, and it is hands down one of the most haunting and heartachingly beautiful movies I've ever seen. I also began a love affair with Keira Knightley's bangs. I would give up my firstborn child to be able to pull it off like she does! Just kidding. Or am I?
lingering
I have a big obsession with bowties at the moment, so I've been making a few (which is relatively easy, actually!). This I made from some tan felt at the fabric store. Just snip out the shape, tie a knot, insert a safety pin in the knot, and voila! Ready to wear with a cute collar. It seriously takes about 10 minutes to make, tops.
Here's my slobalicious wardrobe. I realized today, as I was tidying up my things in my room, that I can no longer fit anything else in there, which obviously means I need to sort, cull, and donate. This is hard for a pack-rat like me, but it has to be done -- especially since I'll be moving in the fall and there is no way in hell I can take everything with me.

(Hooker with) a heart of gold
This morning, as I was eating breakfast, I rewatched my mom's DVD of Pretty Woman.
The Stunner: black lace cocktail dress.
And of course, you can't have a Pretty Woman post without its signature love soundtrack:

Probably my most favorite outfit of Julia's in this film: the lavender dress at the Blue Banana.
How much was young Richard Gere a total fox?

Not-so-teeny bikini
I'm ready for you, summer!
Retro bikini top with underwire (target.com, $14) - underwire a must for us poor females not so endowed!
High-waisted black swim-bottoms (O'Neill, ON SALE $10) - which I am totally in love with. Totally completes the entire vintage look I was going for, and a complete plus: it makes me look like I actually have an ass!

the blues
how great is her outfit? I love it all. I even wish her coat was opened up a little more, just so we could see a teensy bit more of her colorful button down underneath. Also, how great is the fact that her outfit underneath is so springy -- underneath a gray winter coat?
Peep-toe boots: identity crisis
Let's talk about the raging fashion trend right now of peep-toe boots:
I, quite frankly, am not a fan. I am a critical-thinker fashion-lover, and these don't make sense to me. I don't even think peep-toe boots make sense to themselves. I was shopping with my cousin the other day and she purchased a pair of suede gray-lavender peeptoe booties and I told her, "Doesn't it seem like it's sending you mixed messages? Like, 'My toes are hot, but the rest of my foot is really cold.'"
It is very unpractical. I think about wearing these boots in the rain and I instantly hate it. But I bet the people in total celebration over these babies are toe fetishers. Don't scoff. i know a few. So right now I'd love to ask: what are some fashion trends that you despise and/or think are just really illogical? Leggings? 1 inch heels?
At work my coworker is about 5'9'' (I am at an average 5'4'', which I hate) and she was venting to me about heel heights. She wears nothing less than 3 inch heels. She finds anything lower than 3 inches is a waste and says you might as well wear no heels at all. I told her that I rarely wear anything above 1 inch or 2 inch heels (which isn't very fashionable, I know) and she looked at me like I was crazy. She wouldn't think I was crazy if she saw me walking in heels higher than 2 inches. In fact she would probably PAY ME not to wear anything higher than 2 inches ever again after seeing what a public hazard I would be.

Firsty
Here is the dreaded intro post in which I will do everything I can to resist making it seem like I am a way less awkward person than I truly am. But the most important first thing you guys need to know about me is this:
But I bet you guys are, too. I mean, why else would you be here?
Also, I'm writing this into post while I desperately need to be getting to my French 102 assignments for class. So that should tell you a little something about my priorities. Secondly: I don't have a real packed-in focus for this blog. It'll convey the things I love: quirky fashion, art, an outlet for my own art, music, and etc. Hopefully that will jive well! I've had numerous experiences with blogs, and while some definitely stuck with me, some definitely didn't.
Now about me: I am a 20-year-old college student, currently rezing in San Diego, CA. I'm aiming to be an English major with an emphasis in creative writing in hopes of being a gnarly author. In my spare time I love to indulge my guilty pleasures of reading YA books, watching TV + movies, listening to music, blah blah blah, thrifting, and doodling. Like this:
So expect to see more of those! A bientot!
